Van Gogh and The Sunflowers - Drawing from Life

Vincent Van Gogh loved to paint from observation. This rotation, we studied Van Gogh's bright beautiful paintings and especially the "Twelve Sunflowers". We set up a still life of five sunflowers to draw from observation. It is not as easy as it looks! Come back to see our finished paintings.

Art students studied light, reflection, environment and atmosphere in looking at the art of Claude Monet. The children compared the haystacks and even made a virtual visit to Monet's garden to see the waterlily pond and the Japanese footbridge.
